Grade 1 through 6 Class Information
The Religious Education Program is in session from the end of September to mid-May. Students attend classes once a week. Classes are 75 minutes in length.
For grades 1 through 6, classes are offered on the following days and times:
Tuesday, 4:15 PM to 5:30 PM
Wednesday, 4:15 PM to 5:30 PM
Thursday, 4:15 PM to 5:30 PM
Sunday*, 10:30 AM to 11:45 AM
*Sunday students are asked to attend the 9:30 AM Family Mass. They go directly to class after Mass.
Our families may choose any class day that works best. However, if you wish to choose a day based on the public school your child attends, take note of the following:
Grade 7 and 8 Class Information
For 2021-2022, grade 7 and 8 students have two choices:
FLIPPED CLASSROOM students will read assigned chapters in a textbook at home and attend class twice a month on a Monday evening. Twice-monthly classes will take place from 6:15 PM to 7:30 PM.
HOME STUDY ON-LINE PROGRAM students will complete their coursework any day of the week, using an on-line eBook. Assignments will be tracked and Unit Tests will be required.
Grade 7 and 8 coursework is a necessary part of preparation for Confirmation and must be completed before receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation.
Registration
Families already registered with the program will automatically receive a Re-Registration Email in May. Kindly follow the instructions in the Re-Registration Email.
Families new to the program may register on-line by clicking On-Line Registration for NEW Families. We ask the parents of children in grades 1 through 6 to meet briefly with our Director, Mrs. Rosemary Pettei. She will fill you in on the St. Edward Religious Education Program. Sacraments
St. Edward Religious Education is an 8-year program. Students start in grade 1 and finish in grade 8.
Preparation for First Holy Communion takes place in grades 1 and 2. Students receive the Sacrament in May of grade 2.
Preparation for Confirmation takes place in grades 7 and 8. Students receive the Sacrament in the Fall of grade 9.
