Grade 1 through 6 Class Information

 

The Religious Education Program is in session from the end of September to mid-May.  Students attend classes once a week.  Classes are 75 minutes in length.

 

For grades 1 through 6, classes are offered on the following days and times:

Tuesday, 4:15 PM to 5:30 PM

Wednesday, 4:15 PM to 5:30 PM

Thursday, 4:15 PM to 5:30 PM

Sunday*, 10:30 AM to 11:45 AM

  *Sunday students are asked to attend the 9:30 AM Family Mass.  They go directly to class after Mass.

 

Our families may choose any class day that works best.  However, if you wish to choose a day based on the  public school your child attends, take note of the following:

  • TUESDAY classes usually consist of students from Syosset Village, Walt Whitman, Cold Spring Harbor.
  • WEDNESDAY classes usually consist of students from Baylis, Robbins Lane, AP Willits.
  • THURSDAY classes usually consist of students from South Grove, Jericho, Berry Hill, Other Districts.
  • SUNDAY classes consist of students from any public school.

 

 

Grade 7 and 8 Class Information

 

For 2022-2023, grade 7 and 8 students have two choices:

 

MONDAY CLASSES:  Students attend classroom instruction on Mondays from 6:15 to 7:30 PM.

 

HOME STUDY ON-LINE:  Students complete their coursework any day of the week using a self-guided, on-line program.  Lesson progress and Assessments will be monitored by the Director.  Home Study students must complete all lessons (approximately 26) by the end of June.

 

 

Registration

 

Families already registered with the program will automatically receive a Re-Registration Email in late-May or early-June.  Kindly follow the instructions in the Re-Registration Email.

Sacraments

 

St. Edward Religious Education is an 8-year program.  Students start in grade 1 and finish in grade 8.

 

Preparation for First Holy Communion takes place in grades 1 and 2.  Students receive the Sacrament in May of grade 2.

 

Preparation for Confirmation takes place in grades 7 and 8.  Students receive the Sacrament in the Fall of grade 9.
